INNOVATE Conference

INNOVATE is a conference for undergraduate and graduate technical students that examines the relationship between technology, globalization, and leadership in the contemporary marketplace. Student delegates spend five days each in two locations in Asia participating in meetings with key business, academic, and government leaders and also conduct professional site visits to companies.
INNOVATE involves students from at least five different countries and numerous US and international universities. The formal program promotes student interactions that take full advantage of the international make-up of the delegates and spirit of our conference. Outside the conference program, the conversations that occur during dinner and sightseeing excursions are opportunities for delegates to reflect on what they have learned and to challenge their thinking about their own cultures. This conference prepares tomorrow’s technical leaders to grapple with the issues of technology and globalization, not just in the abstract, but also through experience. |

"I believe that I have benefitted greatly from taking part in INNOVATE. Aside from the obvious benefit of net-working, I was able to get a first-hand glimpse into what is happening half-way around the world. With the constant question of where will such-and-such be in twenty years, I had time to ponder where I will be in twenty years. I hope to be working for a global corporation and to have had the opportunity to aid developing countries like Vietnam break out into the global market. I am still unsure of how I will accomplish this, but I know that I want to stay connected to the countries we visited and spend more time learning about what is happening in the world.
