Participating Institutions

Each year INNOVATE involves up to 70 participants from around the world including the US, Japan, Singapore. Vietnam, India, China, and many more. Previous INNOVATE conferences have shown that, beyond the formal session of the program, the informal interaction participants have with their counterparts from around the world provide a wealth of learning opportunities that extend beyond the formal conference events. INNOVATE delegates leave the conference with a new respect for the impact that globalization and technology have on students from around the world and with a solid foundation laid for a global contact network with other students and professionals in their field that will for the basis of their future academic and professional careers.

The University of Tulsa is home to Dr. Cheryl Matherly, Assistant Dean of Global Education, and director of INNOVATE . Formerly of Rice University, Cheryl is one of the co-PIs on the NSF-PIRE grant that provides partial funding to the INNOVATE Conference.

The University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering joined INNOVATE in 2006. Through their School of Continuing Studies Pitt will begin offering the Topics in Global Leadership & Technology course for credit to all program participants in 2007. Georgia Institute of Technology is the 4th ranked Engineering school in the US according to US News and World Reports and will join the INNOVATE conference in 2007. For more information contact Jyoti Kaneria or Prof. Richard Barke.

North Carolina State University provides a Certificate in International Education that is open to all students and for which INNOVATE is one program option. Through their Study Abroad Scholarships NCSU also is able to provide additional funding and support to their delegates.

IAESTE is an international network that coordinates internships for students in technical fields with internships currently available in over 80 countries. Through the Consortium and Local Chapter networks IAESTE provides INNOVATE with delegates from around the world.

Keio University in Tokyo, Japan is a longtime participant in the INNOVATE conference and a research host institution for the related NanoJapan program run by Rice University. Delegates from Keio provide a unique perspective on the role that private universities play in the educational system of Japan and how this affects Japan’s role in Asia and the world today.

The National University of Singapore is an partner institution in the International Exchange Program at Rice University and a primary destination for engineering, science and technical students wish to study abroad. Delegates from NUS provide the INNOVATE conference with a diverse range of students that showcase the impact of globalization and technology on higher education in Asia today.

Home to a Japan Center of Excellence program, delegates from Tokyo Tech provide a unique perspective on the challenges and benefits that globalization and technology hold for Japan and Asia as a whole.

RMIT International University - Vietnam: Three Vietnamese students from RMIT joined INNOVATE 2008 and we look forward to continued participation from students at this institution.

| IAESTE International |
:In 2007 INNOVATE opened the conference to all international members of IAESTE around the world. If you are a member of IAESTE in any of their 80 particpating countries you are eligible to apply for INNOVATE and we welcome your application.

| IAESTE China |
IAESTE China served as an organizing institution for the INNOVATE 2006 conference in Shanghai, China. Through their domestic networks in China they are able to send delegates from institutions such as Fudan University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai University, and Shanghai Normal University along with many others.

IAESTE Japan joined INNOVATE in 2006 with one delegate attending from the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. INNOVATE looks forward to continuing to work with IAESTE Japan to provide opportunities for their students to attend this program. |
